What should I bring?

Dress in layers so you can adjust to the weather. You need to bring rain gear just in case. You never know what the weather will do next on the west coast.

  • rain gear
  • large coolers for your catch
  • lunch and drinks (drinks available on request)
  • saltwater fishing license with conservation tag for every person on the boat
  • camera & film

Where can I stay when I come to Bamfield?

You can stay in a variety of accommodations, from campgrounds, motels to high-end resorts. For more information please look in our accommodations and amenities page.

How many people can the boat hold?

The maximum is four people plus the guide? If you have a group larger than four people we have other boats available. Corporate groups welcomed!!!!

What are the catch limits?

Catch limits are outlined on the Catch Limit Chart. The Chart is in PDF format and the Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view it. This is a free download.

Can I get my fish smoked or canned?

Yes, St Jeans cannery does excellent work and they have a drop off depot in Port Alberni That you will pass on your way home from Bamfield.

What species of fish will I catch?

You will catch Chinook (king) salmon which are the largest, Coho (silver) salmon and the occasionally a pink salmon. Depending on the time of year you might catch a chum or sockeye salmon as well. There is also an abundance of halibut, Lingcod and Red Snappers (yelloweye Rockfish).
